James has initiated Bianca into a dark and drugging world of passion and pain. He taught her about her own submissive, masochistic nature, and she fell swiftly and deeply in love with the undeniably charming and impossibly beautiful Mr. Cavendish, but a painful misunderstanding and the return of the brutally violent demon of her past have combined to overwhelm Bianca, and, confused and hurt, she pushes him away.

It’s been over a month since the shocking attack that hospitalized her, and since she told a distraught James that she needed space, but her feelings haven’t gone away. Even she knew that it was only a matter of time before he would cast his spell on her again…

“I want you in my life, and I will make any concessions needed to see that happen.” ~James

“You don’t have to explain your preferences to me. I want whatever makes you happy, and I see that James does that, when you let him. You weren’t even slightly interested in men before you met him, so he obviously gives you something you need. I’m glad you found someone who seems to compliment you so well.” ~Stephan

“I was a slut once with my body, but I’ve never been a slut with my heart.” ~James

Why I Loved It

NOTE: This is my second time reading this book. I first read this book before I started blogging, but with Book 3 coming out Feb 12, I wanted to re-read the series and share it with all of you. James and Bianca’s story is one of my favorites and I can’t wait to read GROUNDED!

Oh My! Mr. Cavendish is one hell of a kinky man! This is my warning to you, this book is HOT, and it contains some very BDSM moments, even more so then book 1, IN FLIGHT. This book is not for those who are the faint of heart, this book is freaking HOT! There were moments that I was blushing, and thinking……..”He just did WHAT?!”

The book starts a few weeks past where we ended in IN FLIGHT. Bianca has kept her word on needing some time away from James, going as far as re-scheduling her destination flight from New York to Florida. She has texted him from time to time, but has been very clear on not seeing him. However, James keeps in constant contact with Stephan, always checking in on Bianca. James is desperate to see her and to be able to explain everything.

“We can meet however you want. You make the terms. I would agree to anything, just to see you for five minutes. I mean that literally. I could meet up with your crew or we could meet up for coffee. Just tell me what you want and I’ll do it. I ‘m desperate to see you.”

James may take control in the bedroom but Bianca definitely has control outside of the bedroom. James would do anything Bianca were to ask of him. Which most of the time seems to be requests that only keep him at arms length. She can be so frustrating, like when she tells James that he is not allowed to talk with her about their relationship. Ok, ummmm, Bianca……you do realize that you are going to need to talk about it eventually.

“Are we talking about our relationship, or am I not allowed? Because you keep saying the most infuriating things, and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to bit my tongue. So are we talking about our relationship tonight, or not? I’ve wanted to explain myself to you for a long time, but you always run away before I can even begin.”

I really wanted to be able to smack some sense into Bianca at times, in the most loving way possible. She can be rather difficult, I can understand why, and I would probably do some of the same things if I were in her shoes. But, I so badly want her to stop cross examining and belittling EVERYTHING and to just be happy. I want so much for her to except all of the happiness that James is so willing to give her.

“You make me crazy. If you would give me some clue to what you were thinking or feeling, if you even feel anything for me, I think I could handle our situation with a little less volatility.”

I have to give James some credit for what he puts up with from Bianca, not that he is an innocent in all this but still. I mean, I know that Bianca is in love with James, but I also get to hear all of the thoughts that are in her head. James on the other hand gets a sometimes emotionless Bianca that often leaves James to question what Bianca really feels for him. Again, wanting to smack her. He will never really know if she doesn’t let him. Please, Bianca, give that man something!

I hadn’t known pampering like this before, and I found myself unexpectedly relishing the experience. “It makes me feel special. I find that I love it. I find that I love everything you do to me.”

OH MY GOODNESS! Did Bianca just let our James know that she actually DOES feel something? That he can make her happy? Oh Bianca, I am so proud of you!

But once Bianca is given a chance to think about things she is putting her walls back up, trying to protect her heart.

“…You are going to run into a lot of my ex-lovers. That’s an unfortunate fact. It will be a lot less painful for you if you can just get it into your head that non of them were anything but a fuck to me. And fucking was nothing to me before I met you. Sex was a bodily function to me before I met you. That’s why I call this making love. It means something to me.”

And there it is. See how that little excerpt is both a blessing and a curse to hear? One side lets us know that Bianca actually means something to him, not that I was really questioning it at this point, but Bianca is. Then on the other side, Bianca is once again reminded of all the other woman he has been with. Even I get a little bit angry about that. The number of partners your significant other has had before you is just one of those things that is best to not think about. Lets face it, it doesn’t matter how long ago or how much it didn’t mean anything. Some other woman still got to put her hands all over him and enjoy something that is so precious to Bianca, that is enough to make anyone’s blood boil. So the fact that Bianca is given a constant reminder of who he has been with, yeah I will give her that. That is a really hard thing to have to confront. I got Bianca’s back on that. Especially considering some of the ex-lovers that she has to deal with.

Speaking of ex-lovers, can I just say that this Jules bitch from James’s past is seriously needing an ass kicking. She seriously could not be any more stuck on herself, she honestly thinks that James will be hers, that Bianca is just a ‘fling’ that he needs to get out of the way. And the things that her and the other girl do and say to her in the bathroom made me so angry! These two woman take being bitches, very seriously. I so hope that they get what they deserve in GROUNDED because that would make me so happy!

James and Bianca make a lot of progress in their relationship and deal with some very unfortunate events, especially Bianca. Her past keeps coming into her life to mess with her and makes things complicated, and James has some family issues that are obviously not going to go away. They still have so much to learn about each other, and Bianca really needs to be able to let James in. But I need to give her credit because she really is finally starting to let herself be happy. I have come to adore this couple and the way that they seem to be the perfect pieces for each other, and I can’t wait for GROUNDED because I have a feeling there is a whole lot that is about to happen that is going to really bring James and Bianca together.

Loving me some James and Bianca.
